Latest Meetup1 product updates and release notes

Official dated updates from Meetup1. Newest releases appear first.

Virtual Background 2.0: cleaner video and smarter performance

Our latest virtual-background improvements help you look more natural on camera with more consistent subject edges, reduced flicker, smarter camera lighting and device-aware quality presets.

A more natural on-camera look

  • Improved foreground opacity and mask-edge refinement help keep clothing and faces solid against replacement backgrounds.
  • Motion-aware smoothing helps reduce subtle flicker without adding long trails when the participant moves.
  • Supported camera exposure controls improve lighting before virtual-background composition, helping avoid washed-out backgrounds.

Performance and controls

  • Fast, Balanced and Studio quality options include a recommended preset tailored to available device capabilities.
  • Adaptive processing can lower background quality when measured video frame rates fall, then recover when performance stabilizes.
  • Camera processor ownership and recovery protections improve behavior when changing cameras or reinitializing background effects.

Release validation

  • Virtual Background 2.0 development phases have been merged with automated checks; results depend on hardware and browser support.
  • Real-device, two-person live-meeting validation is still required before confirming production-wide quality and reliability.

Live captions: more reliable speech capture and transcription

Live captions are better protected against missed remote speech, interrupted microphone setup, and late transcription results after captions are turned off.

Live caption improvements

  • Fixed a remote-audio buffering issue that could prevent later speech from being transcribed after the first audio batch in a meeting.
  • Caption capture now cancels outdated microphone setup if you turn CC off while the browser is still requesting or preparing audio access.
  • Late transcription results from an earlier capture session are ignored when captions have been stopped or restarted.
  • Host-side remote audio subscriptions now release canceled audio-processing resources instead of allowing old capture to continue.
  • Caption processing no longer stops unnecessarily when internal component callbacks change.

Quality checks

  • Caption lifecycle regression tests, production build, and TypeScript checks passed before the change was merged.
  • Live verification with multiple participants, mobile devices, and unstable networks is still being completed; individual results may depend on browser microphone support.

New Visitor History: track returning meeting attendees

Hosts can now review attendance across their meetings, identify returning signed-in participants, inspect individual meeting histories, and export visitor records.

New features

  • Visitor History is available in the dashboard under Meeting Intelligence for hosts reviewing attendance across meetings they own.
  • See visitor records, returning signed-in members, and recorded attendance minutes with date filters for the last 7, 30, or 90 days, or all time.
  • Open a visitor's history to see previous meetings, attendance dates, and time spent in each session.
  • Search visitors and meeting names, and export attendance records to CSV for further reporting.

Privacy and accuracy

  • Returning visitors are identified using signed-in Meetup1 accounts. Anonymous guest visits remain separate, even when guests use the same display name.
  • History is based on available stored attendance records from the host's meetings; older visits without records cannot be reconstructed.

Visitor insights, reliable captions and microphones

Hosts can now see how many people join each meeting, including guests, while captions and microphone startup became noticeably more dependable.

New features

  • Meeting Analytics now counts guest visitors alongside signed-in attendees, so hosts can see which meetings are actually being used.
  • A visitors overview on the dashboard highlights total visitors, the busiest meeting, and average visitors per meeting.
  • Guest visitors are labeled by name in visitor lists and included in visitor exports.
  • Hosts can connect their CaribSocial account directly from the live broadcast window.

Fixes and improvements

  • Live captions stay on screen while active and no longer flicker when the browser resets its speech listener.
  • Guest speech is now included in live captions.
  • Fixed a microphone startup failure that could block unmuting when audio processing could not initialize.
  • The first question asked to Meeting AI now succeeds when a host turns Meeting AI on and asks immediately, instead of reporting that Meeting AI is not active yet.
  • CaribSocial sign-in problems now return you to your meeting with the actual reason instead of a generic error.

Shared notes recovery and smarter meeting task follow-up

Updates to collaborative notes and post-meeting action items make it easier to recover edits, assign follow-ups to verified participants, and review requests for clarification.

Collaborative documents

  • Shared notes now restore persisted collaboration state when reopened and request missing edits after reconnections or late joins.
  • Version restoration has added backup safeguards and clearer success or failure feedback.
  • Collaborative saves now use version checks and Yjs merging to reduce accidental overwrites when several people edit notes.

Meeting AI action items

  • The Meeting Tasks dashboard includes an Assigned to me view based on verified Meetup1 accounts.
  • Recording owners can select eligible meeting participants when assigning AI-generated tasks.
  • Assigned participants can accept a task, request clarification, or flag an incorrect assignment, with their response visible to the recording owner.
  • In-app host alerts link to the relevant task when a participant requests clarification or reports an incorrect assignment.

In development

  • Task email preferences are available in the dashboard, but automatic task emails are not active yet.
  • The trusted email-event and reminder infrastructure is being prepared for deployment and security testing before outbound emails are enabled.
  • Live database migration and multi-participant reliability checks are still required for the latest features.

Studio-quality virtual backgrounds and smarter host framing

Meetup1 now gives hosts a more polished on-camera look with smarter framing, improved virtual-background presentation, and backgrounds that stay selected for future meetings.

New features

  • Smart Framing now works while a virtual background is active, keeping the host better centered with more natural headroom and shoulder framing.
  • Studio background mode now combines virtual-background processing, face-aware framing, and subtle appearance enhancement in the same published video pipeline.
  • Your last applied virtual background or blur setting is remembered and restored automatically in future meetings and webinars.

Improvements

  • Framing now avoids over-zooming when the host is already close to the camera and smooths small face-detection movements for a steadier picture.
  • On supported cameras, Studio quality can use continuous exposure, white balance, focus, and modest exposure compensation to help the host appear clearer against bright virtual backgrounds.
  • The improved processed host video is also used for remote Meetup1 participants and CaribSocial live broadcasts.
  • Desktop meetings now offer a clearer recovery screen and a fresh connection attempt if the video connection drops and cannot be restored automatically.
  • If internet access returns after an interruption, participants can retry the meeting connection without closing the meeting page.

Smarter meeting assistance, upgraded Webinars, and CaribSocial live broadcasting

Meetup1 now combines stronger Meeting AI with a redesigned Webinar experience and a new CaribSocial broadcast destination for taking Meetings and Webinars live to managed CaribSocial Pages.

New features

  • Meeting AI can answer questions about an active meeting, including catch-up requests, summaries, decisions, and personal tasks when meeting intelligence is enabled.
  • The More tools menu now keeps Meeting AI shortcuts together, leaving more room to read AI answers.
  • Customize the in-meeting toolbar from More → Customize toolbar. Hide optional buttons, restore them later, and keep your preferences in this browser.
  • Export action items from a recording as a CSV file with assigned people, completion status, and recording timestamps.
  • Export your post-meeting AI discussion, including available source references, for follow-up.
  • Hosts can broadcast a live Meetup1 Meeting directly to a CaribSocial Page they own or manage, using CaribSocial as the public audience destination while the interactive meeting continues in Meetup1.
  • The CaribSocial broadcast destination is available from desktop and mobile Meeting controls, with Page selection and start/stop controls handled from Meetup1.

Webinars

  • Webinars now deliver smoother, more reliable broadcasts for hosts, panelists, and larger audiences.
  • Hosts have clearer control over who can speak, appear on camera, or share their screen. Attendees stay in viewer mode unless they are promoted to panelist.
  • A private backstage experience lets hosts and panelists prepare before going live without exposing practice audio or video to waiting attendees.
  • Hosts can require registration, share a dedicated registration page, and make sure only approved attendees can enter the webinar.
  • Hosts can promote attendees to panelists, demote panelists, mute participants, and remove people from the webinar when needed.
  • Q&A gives hosts and panelists better moderation tools, including answering, dismissing, restoring, and featuring questions live.
  • Registered attendees can receive confirmation and Go Live notifications, with protection against duplicate alerts.
  • Cloud Recording now captures the full webinar, including panelists, audio, and screen sharing, and saves it to the existing Recordings library.
  • Webinar hosts can now choose CaribSocial as a live broadcast destination and select an eligible CaribSocial Page before going live publicly.
  • A CaribSocial simulcast ends automatically when the Meetup1 Meeting or Webinar ends, helping prevent stale live broadcasts.

Fixes and improvements

  • Meeting AI can be available to participants in meetings hosted by an eligible Premium subscriber or platform administrator, subject to the host's meeting permissions.
  • Transcription continues without interruptive activation popups, and the floating transcript stays out of the way while Meeting AI is open.
  • Meeting AI now gives clearer guidance when an API account runs out of credit or encounters a temporary rate limit.
  • Failed post-meeting AI requests can be retried without entering the question again.
  • Meeting action items now show clearer feedback when changes cannot be saved, and tasks are restored if a deletion fails.
  • Action-item updates and deletions are more carefully restricted to their original meeting.
